An Exciting new Training Programme
Let your children experience a winter in Flaine and improve their skiing and French language.
For winter 2009/10 we are offering an exciting training programme for junior ski racers.
The Flaine Super Ski Academy is a total sports and academic programme allowing children to race train and to keep up with their schoolwork.
The Academy programme is ideal for enthusiastic ski racers and their families. It can also be adapted for families wishing to enjoy a winter in the mountains on a less competitive basis. Families can participate in skiing or training whilst exploring and experiencing the Haute Savoie and its culture.
The Academy is designed for experienced ski racers or for skiers just starting out in racing.
The Flaine Ski Adacemy can be expereinced for just 1 week or the whole season. Trainees will be given individual programmes relating to age/ability and duration of yearly training (winter, summer and autumn). Summer and autumn training takes place at our dedicated development centre in Tignes. This enables a full year progressive training programme. Training camps are for periods up to 6 weeks in the summer and up to 8 weeks in the autumn.
Ski Training/Sports Programme
Morning Session: dedicated to skiing, which will include both technical skiing, free skiing and gate training.
Students can get regular race experience in the local ESF races, the Fleche and the Chamois. Elite students will be offered trials with the Club des Sports Flaine, enabling them to compete in the French national points system.
The programme is flexible to accommodate extra training before races.
Afternoon Session: for academic study and sports/cross training. There will be a period of academic study followed by regular sessions of sport. This will include ftiness/conditioning and cross training other sports. There will also be regular video anlaysis of the morning ski session. Trainees individual programmes can be adapted to provide additional afternoon training before races and in school holidays.
Academic Programme
Students' work will be arranged by yourselves and their school. Our Education Liaison Manager will supervise the daily work and keep in contact with the student's UK school.
To ensure the success of the programme there will be regular communication with the school throughout the winter via email, fax and phone, so that the students' progress can be monitored. In addition we will provide regular French lessons.
There will be no academic programme during the Christmas, half term and Easter school holiday periods. However, additional afternoon ski training is offered.
Parents Programme
Most importantly we will be offering various activities for parents - so you can experience an amazing winter in Flaine!
Accommodation/Location
Flaine holds one of the best snow records in the Alps. It is a car-free and family-orientated resort. It is easy to access, just a little over an hour from Geneva airport.
We can arrange an apartment to suit your individual requirements for the duration of your stay - whether it's the whole season or just one week. Apartments range from basic 2 person studios to luxury 4* apartments with one or more bedrooms. Lunches can be arranged via a pre-booked voucher system at a designated restaurant.
You can become immersed in the French experience - skiing, playing, living and mixing with the local French children and their families, Flaine specialises in being a family friendly resort. Children are able to be more independent and enjoy the freedom they do not always experience back in the UK.
Families are encouraged to speak and listen to French where possible.
